There has never been a better time to be a filmmaker because we all know that Hollywood isn’t in Hollywood anymore.
For those of you who have followed this blog for awhile now, you know my personal passion for directors who are also screen writers.
Throughout my own life I’ve always viewed the screenplay as a dialogue that the director has with himself about the characters in his or her life that they display right on the screen.
Most directors I’ve known personally are all a bit “obsessive compulsive,” so if this is your tendency, you’ve picked the right career for yourself.
At the end of the day you “know you have to do this.” There are no accidents and as soon as you set your “intention,” simply watch as things start to manifest.
Now living in a post “Covid-19 World,” I’ve invested a lot of time since the lockdowns going back and looking back at directors that have had a keen influence on me.
One of them is Paul Thomas Anderson.
With only 9 films under his belt, if you are serious about building a film career, you have to be willing to look at what other creators have put out into the public eye.
