Well, for me it was live Concerts and Festivals.
It started in late February of 2020. It felt like something was off and I couldn’t put my finger on it. What am I talking about? I’m talking about this whole Covid mess that shut down TV Shows, Film Productions, Recording Studios, plus cultural events.
The biggest one for me was cultural events.
What kind of cultural event?

Well, for me it was live Concerts and Festivals at Big Reggae Mix.
For almost six years I had been the producer as well as the Co-Founder of Big Reggae Mix. Since Big Reggae Mix was an internet only station, we relied on “Live Reggae Festivals” to drive sponsors and content to the station.
Once those festivals shut down, the majority of them did not come back. In fact, the whole “Reggae Game,” has changed as far as I am concerned. “Reggae Pop” as a Genre and Format was gaining real momentum in the music business until Covid hit in March of 2020.

Each year in February around Bob Marley’s birthday (same birthday as my Dad RIP), we would attend a live Festival that easily had 10,000+ fans who were passionate about Reggae.
The next biggest thing was watching live comedians get cancelled.
The next big thing was the “hive mentality” that developed.
It was like people couldn’t even think for themselves because of those who worked in Hollywood on a daily basis, couldn’t imagine what was happening.

Now let us fast forward to September of 2023. Where are we now? Well, you’re next booster shot is ready for you so remember to line up for it!
Hollywood, both Actors and Screenwriters are all on strike. You’ll notice the biggest crowds in front of Netflix and Paramount Studios on Melrose.
The A.i. Factor
Now there is something else in the air the is scaring the crap out of real writers. What is it? Answer: Chap GPT can write, develop, as well as research concepts, ideas, and treatments faster than humans can. Of course, the a.i. Explosion launches almost “simultaneously” at the same time the “writers strike,” and “actors strike” hit the street.
There is even “grief counseling” available to those who need it. Yeah, I found this online and it kept me smiling:
Beyond the hanging pendant lights of the Liberties, a modern Irish pub in downtown L.A., waves of laughter bellow from a private event room. Grief support specialist Rebecca Feinglos asks the nine actors and writers attending what she calls a “meet and grieve” to pick a cut-out picture of an internet meme from the table that best represents how they feel that evening.
Actor Danice Cabanela shared a meme of “Parks and Recreation” protagonist Leslie Knope, reading the caption: “Everything hurts and I’m dying.” To the others’ knowing nods and smirks, Cabanela says, “I want to hold it all together, but it’s killing me.”
