Knowing When To Leave The Stage

There is a life we learn with and a life we live with. Over the years, I have seen many professional artists who needed to step off the stage, and they did so because they knew it was time.

Johnny Carson became the host of The Tonight Show in New York City on October 1, 1962. Mr. Carson was only 36 years of age.

Carson was so much a part of the American Culture that it was always a topic of conversation between my parents over coffee the next morning.

This is a really hard topic for me to write about because I’ve witnessed so many who stayed way beyond their prime.

Even when Johnny Carson made his final appearance on The David Letterman Show it was brief.

There are others like Jack Nicolson, Gene Hackman, and even Bruce Willis knew it was time to go.
