Living Life As An Algorithm

Commentary and Reflections About Your Soul By Mitch Santell

Live A Positive Life, I promise you won’t regret it! ~ AfterHollywood.Online

We spend the first half of our life learning how to love and live life, and we spend the second half of our life saying goodbye to all those that we were closest too and loved the most.

The one thing that I know is the strength and power of kindness. The next thing I know is that there will be no sequel to your life, so you had better make every single moment count.

The thoughts in your head may not be your own so may I kindly you suggest that you read this entire blog entry before you tell me I am nuts.

Here is Southern California we have over 4 Million People living in Los Angeles.

For those of us who were around when Los Angeles barely had 500,000 People, we are still in a bit of shock.

What is Los Angeles like now?

L.A. County has 10 Million People, and Los Angeles Proper has 4 Million People.

A lot of people overseas want to know when Los Angeles died.

Based on careful Algorithm analysis says the end of 1978.

Trump Keeps Government Shut Down

A Commentary On Connection, Love & The Collapse by Mitch Santell

Here in America, we have so much to be grateful for as we watch the world go a bit nuts. Happy Saturday dear followers and readers here in America and around the globe. Since I had the opportunity to live in New Zealand for over 5+ years, I am fascinated with how many of you are outside America checking in.

These are my humble evaluations and observations based on.

One ~ America is very divided and over the top in regards to Trump being the President of the United States. Trump talks like a regular person, and it drives the establishment and the power elites out of their minds.

Two ~  President Trump followed up the previous remarks that I just shared with you, by holding an impromptu press conference with members who work border security for America.

Now for a few words from Nancy Pelosi who I understand will be the official spokesperson for Dementia this year.

Can you believe this? Nancy Pelosi said that “The Wall Is An Immorality!”

 What does that mean?

How Long Do People Live After Being Diagnosed with Dementia?

Life expectancy for someone with dementia averages about eight years after initial diagnosis, and may range from about 3 to 20 years.

This is my view, and none of this has anything to do with politics. This has to do with what kind of America are we are going to have 20 years from now.

America, Pelosi Vs. Trump vs. Borders

In The You Can’t Make This Stuff Up Department by Mitch Santell

First, some comments from Nancy Pelosi, who was just re-elected as Speaker Of The House about NSA, Metadata, and Surveillance. Sorry, Ms. Pelosi doesn’t talk right. What do I think? It’s called dementia. Nancy has stage 2 dementia and when it hits stage 3, that will be like Alzheimer’s stage 1. Plus, Nancy is a total globalist. Cheers mate!

Now  for a few words from President Trump in regards to new jobs just created.

Want a bigger understanding of why we need to protect our borders? Here is former Police Officer Mike Ruppert (RIP) disclosing in front of the CIA director in 1996 his observations of drug trafficking across the borders.

The level of corruption coming out of the U.S. Government is pretty bad right now as Trump battles both the Elites and the Federal Reserve which is neither Federal nor a Reserve.

Trump supporters want the wall. The country is divided. All we can do is pray, store some food and water and appreciate living in a 1st world country.

Please don’t take life too seriously okay? It is not like we are all transgender okay? LOL

Today Is The First Day

Reflections on the first day of 2019 by Mitch Santell

Here you are, and here we are in 2019. It is the first day of the new year, and I must tell you what an amazing and transitional time this is. AfterHollywood.Online started as an idea on a napkin in December of 2017 and was launched here at WordPress back in January of 2018. If you have followed me here at AfterHollywood.Online for a while now, you know that I cover a wide variety of topics.

Happy-New-Year-2018-Animation

Yes, I come from a famous old-school Hollywood family. We originally immigrated from Poland to New York in 1899, ended up moving to San Francisco in 1900 where my Grandfather, Martin Santell was born followed by the 1906 Earthquake which forced both my Grandfather and my Great Uncle Alfred Santell to re-locate from San Francisco down to Santa Monica California. Now, I am not a famous person. However, I have worked with a lot of famous people which keeps me humble and also has allowed me to live a much happier life than those I have either produced, raised capital or provided strategy for.

Thank you so much for reading this blog and a special thank you to all my readers and followers.

AfterHollywood.Online has been a labor of love, a beautiful place to vent and a safe place to explore new ideas. Think about how the internet has changed and shifted. New Year’s Eve was a trip because my wife was able to call a close dear girlfriend of her’s who lives in Greece right now. The call was made on a cheap smartphone and worked as promised.

I’ll be renewing my domain name and this blog in the next a few days. There is a real obsession that I have with the interface of the software that runs AfterHollywood.Online

Right now I am on WordPress. There is a reasonable probability that I’ll stay with WordPress for the next year. The biggest challenge I have with the blog is in two areas.

The first area is WordPress’s new editor. The bottom line for me? I Don’t like it. It interferes with my writing, I have to convert formatted text to plain text and then pop it in here.

WordPress is a powerful blogging system, and there are many companies out there that use it for substantial commercial websites.

As long as I can continue to use WordPress’s classic editor, I’ll keep posting. Please note that I openly invite any of you out there who use WordPress to email me directly at mitch at afterhollywood dot online with your own insights on the new editor.

Now, since I’ll be looking at other platforms while I continue to blog here, I’ll share with you my ideas here.

The second area for me right now is social media. With such mixed feelings about it, I’ll have to see how social media plays out for me in 2019. FaceBook? Oh yeah, I dumped that service in 2018. While I continue here at WordPress, re-post on Linked-In and push through my postings on Twitter, I actually think there is more we can do through direct contact.

Over at my streaming radio station, Big Reggae Mix, we continue to push our social media feed because we are a music station and in that situation, you need social media. Let me know how things go for you this year with all of these transformational changes.

What is my take on all of this? The only thing that will remain constant in 2019 is change.

We speak into reality what we wish to create so remember the weight of the words you use this year.

Peace. Shalom. Love. Gratitude, Blessed. Ready, set, it’s here!

2018 New Year’s Gov. Shut Down

Just in case you were wondering by Mitch Santell

Gov shut down 2018 December
Do you even care that the Regan and Bush Museums Remain Open?

In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military- industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.

American makers of plowshares could, with time and as required, make swords as well. But now we can no longer risk emergency improvisation of national defense; we have been compelled to create a permanent armaments industry of vast proportions.

We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together.

The U.S. Government Has Shut Down 18 Times Since 1976.

NPR points out:

Since a new process was put into place in 1976, the U.S. government has shut down 17 times [Update: Make that 18]. Presidents Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan each dealt with six shutdowns during their terms in office, lasting anywhere from one day to 2 1/2 weeks.

Apple’s Little Secret

Commentary On Little Irritations by Mitch Santell

apple-macintosh-1984-history
Nope, It is Not 1984.

Like so many of us who are die hard Apple fans, we sometimes think that Apple in 2018 is Apple of 2008. Well, it is not. The most recent little secret that I discovered when I wanted to treat my wife to one of her favorite films from when she was a kid.

We simply purchased Lost Horizon at the iTunes store. We immediately started streaming the movie and it looked fine.

This morning I decided that I would download the movie to my Mac Mini so that we would not have to wait for Apple to “authorize” our purchase so we could stream it.

Guess what? I could download the film but because I use a less expensive Dell Monitor, I couldn’t play the film after I downloaded it.  The film will still stream but not download.

My response to all this? It makes me not want to purchase movies any more through Apple, Inc.

Sorry Steve Jobs, I think I’ll be going elsewhere to buy my films bro.

Apple's secret
Apple’s Little Secret Is That You Can’t Download Movies To a Mac That Has A Cheap Screen.

The biggest innovations from Apple in 2019 likely won’t be its devices. Instead, it’ll be the services that run on them.

iPhone sales just aren’t soaring like they used to, and it’s getting harder to make smartphones flashier each year. Apple’s ability to woo users increasingly may come from the software and services — like Apple Music and the upcoming Apple video service — we use on those devices.

That’s partly why Apple will no longer break out iPhone unit sales. Tim Cook wants everyone to think about Apple differently, as hard as that may be.

“Given the momentum that we’re seeing across the board, we feel great about our current services,” Cook said during the company’s earnings call in July. “But obviously we’re also thrilled about our pipeline that have some new services in it as well.”

Apple in the coming years may look very different from the company in the past decade, when it got about two-thirds of its revenue from its smartphone lineup.

House of Cards Review, Season 6

A simple review and commentary by Mitch Santell

house-of-cards-kevin-spacey-image (2)
Kevin Spacey was the foundation of House of Cards.

First the commentary…

On March of 2013 I returned to America after living for over 5+ years in New Zealand. One of the things that I had not experienced upon returning to the mainland was Netflix.

When Netflix was started it was not a streaming service, it provided movies by mail. Where could you find Netflix at? Answer: Blockbuster video stores.

FrankClaire2 (1)
Sorry Folks, the show sucks without Mr. Kevin Spacey.

Now for the review…

There was something that was very different about House of Cards and the drivers of the show were Frank Underwood, Claire Underwood and Doug Stamper.

Each season was better than the previous one.
Each episode felt like the finale.
Each character reminded you of someone you met in politics.
Kevin Spacey played an “Alpha Male” just like President Trump.

Claire Underwood on House of Cards is a brilliant character. It is simply that Claire Understood is way too much like Hillary Clinton for my taste.

SPOILERALERT
The final episode of season 6 is like watching any episode from Season 1-5.

2018, The Year Of The Podcast

Comments On The Podcast Universe by Mitch Santell

podcasting
Podcasting, In The Air Every Where!

Podcasting has become a real force on thousands of websites. Like most producer’s, I was always an early adapter. I wanted to see how I could use podcasting as a marketing and branding tool back in 2005, so I launched a podcast called “What’s Out Next!”

I’ve placed a sample of the show here, and beneath the show, I’ve put some articles and resources to help you along your podcasting path.

Here is a list of podcast platforms with links:

VUmeter black and yellow and red

To show you how much Podcasting has grown, check out this article with the link:

When Serial hit the digital airwaves in October 2014, the podcast world was taken by a storm. Suddenly, people who had previously been oblivious to the niche world of on-demand audio content were frantically awaiting the next installment of the weekly show that delved into the minutia of an 15-year-old crime.

Amidst a flurry of media coverage and word-of-mouth publicity, Serial grew bigger and bigger, reaching 230 million downloads across two seasons. In the intervening two-and-a-half years, interest in podcasts has continued to soar, with big media organisations such as Buzzfeedand The New York Timesinvesting heavily in the medium, while independent producers found themselves with more success than they could have dreamed of just a few years previously.

As a result, more and more people are turning to podcasts for everything from politics to comedy, while bloggers, authors and YouTubers are leveraging audio content as a way to expand their audience. But where technology and media trends may have evolved simultaneously in the past, the tools available to both podcasters and podcast listeners remain surprisingly stagnant, unable or unwilling to provide the resources necessary to sustain the growth of the medium.

Shifting perceptions

Across the UK we listen to an average of 26 hours of audio per week, but despite the move towards on-demand digital content in almost every other industry, three-quarters of our listening time is still traditional radio. Adam Martin is the chief content officer at Acast, a podcasting platform that launched in April 2014 and has quickly become one of the most popular apps for podcast listeners, particularly those on Android devices. Part of his role is to shift perceptions of podcasting away from the idea of the geeky white middle-aged man podcasting from their garage, but he finds the historic lack of streamlined technology is a barrier.

“Once you hook people on to podcasts, that’s it. I don’t know anyone who’s stopped listening to podcasts after they start, but the tech needs to be accessible,” said Martin. “Instead of expecting people to download apps and look things up, we want to go to where people already are. We use Facebook Instant Articles integration and a Twitter player to show people snippets of audio they’ll find interesting. We don’t want to corrall them into a walled garden and force them to listen through our app; we want to be a part of the social media channels they already frequent and serve up content to them there. You have to break down the barriers to access podcasts, remove the friction and go to where the people already are.”

This Is What I Learned From Blogging Weekly

This is something I battle with daily in regards to how often I should post. This is the best blog posting I’ve read on blog postings!

Renard's World

cool-looking-abstract

On the 31st of August, 2018, I published, I Am Thinking About Posting Weekly(The experience was certainly an interesting one).

A lot of professional bloggers believe in updating their blogs on a weekly basis (And, there are a lot of hobbyist bloggers who believe in publishing content on their blogs on a weekly basis too).

Publishing an article on one’s blog once a week is feasible (A blogger with a busy lifestyle can still find the time to update their blog).

And, this is what I have learned:
