Vinyl Records Growing In Sales Again

Commentary On The Legacy of Vinyl by Mitch Santell

more spinning vinyl wb

There is nothing that is more fun than playing a vinyl album. Everything from the paper the album cover is printed on, to the liner notes to the smell of the Vinyl itself, there is nothing quite like it.

Yes, I still have my original record collection from when I was a kid but my greatest treasures are because of my Dad (RIP), who kept bringing me picture disks from the late 1970s that are worth a lot today.

According to Billboard Magazine:

Vinyl album sales in the U.S. hit their 13th consecutive year of growth, with ‘Guardians’ being the top-selling LP and “Yellow Submarine” the biggest vinyl single.

Vinyl album sales continue to be a bright spot among an otherwise bleak album sales picture. 16.8 million vinyl albums were sold in 2018, according to Nielsen Music (up 14.6 percent) — marking the 13th consecutive year of growth for the format. 16.8 million is also a new yearly high for vinyl album sales since Nielsen Music began tracking sales in 1991.

Comparatively, overall album sales (vinyl LP, CD, digital, cassette, etc.) in 2018 fell 17.7 percent to 141 million.

Vinyl LP sales accounted for 11.9 percent of all album sales in 2018 (16.8 million of 141 million). In 2017, the format comprised 6.5 percent of album sales.

Overall in 2018, 14 albums sold more than 50,000 copies on vinyl — up from just eight titles in 2017. Further, 79 titles exceeded 20,000 in LP sales in 2018, as compared to 77 in 2017 and 58 in 2016.

4 The Beatles, Abbey Road 76,000
5 Prince and The Revolution, Purple Rain(Soundtrack) 71,000
6 Pink Floyd, The Dark Side of the Moon 67,000
7 Bob Marley and The Wailers, Legend: The Best Of… 61,000
8 Queen, Greatest Hits 60,000
9 Amy Winehouse, Back to Black 59,000
10 Panic! at the Disco, Pray for the Wicked 59,000
Source: Nielsen Music, for the tracking period Dec. 29, 2017 through Jan. 3, 2019. (Titles listed with the same sales total are not tied, as their exact sales are rounded to the nearest thousand.)

RECORD WEEK FOR VINYL ALBUM SALES: 905,000 vinyl albums were sold in the week ending Dec. 27, 2018, the largest week for the format since Nielsen Music began tracking sales in 1991. That sum actually beats out a record that was only set a week earlier, when 880,000 vinyl LPs were sold in the frame ending Dec. 20. (Before 2018, the largest week was registered in the week ending Dec. 21, 2017, with 811,000 vinyl albums sold.)

ROCK AROUND THE VINYL CLOCK: Rock music is tops among vinyl album buyers, as the genre comprises the largest share of vinyl LP sales: 63 percent. In 2017, the genre amounted to 67 percent of LP sales, while in 2016 rock yielded 69 percent of LP sales.

Living Life As An Algorithm

Commentary and Reflections About Your Soul By Mitch Santell

Live A Positive Life, I promise you won’t regret it! ~ AfterHollywood.Online

We spend the first half of our life learning how to love and live life, and we spend the second half of our life saying goodbye to all those that we were closest too and loved the most.

The one thing that I know is the strength and power of kindness. The next thing I know is that there will be no sequel to your life, so you had better make every single moment count.

The thoughts in your head may not be your own so may I kindly you suggest that you read this entire blog entry before you tell me I am nuts.

Here is Southern California we have over 4 Million People living in Los Angeles.

For those of us who were around when Los Angeles barely had 500,000 People, we are still in a bit of shock.

What is Los Angeles like now?

L.A. County has 10 Million People, and Los Angeles Proper has 4 Million People.

A lot of people overseas want to know when Los Angeles died.

Based on careful Algorithm analysis says the end of 1978.

America, Pelosi Vs. Trump vs. Borders

In The You Can’t Make This Stuff Up Department by Mitch Santell

First, some comments from Nancy Pelosi, who was just re-elected as Speaker Of The House about NSA, Metadata, and Surveillance. Sorry, Ms. Pelosi doesn’t talk right. What do I think? It’s called dementia. Nancy has stage 2 dementia and when it hits stage 3, that will be like Alzheimer’s stage 1. Plus, Nancy is a total globalist. Cheers mate!

Now  for a few words from President Trump in regards to new jobs just created.

Want a bigger understanding of why we need to protect our borders? Here is former Police Officer Mike Ruppert (RIP) disclosing in front of the CIA director in 1996 his observations of drug trafficking across the borders.

The level of corruption coming out of the U.S. Government is pretty bad right now as Trump battles both the Elites and the Federal Reserve which is neither Federal nor a Reserve.

Trump supporters want the wall. The country is divided. All we can do is pray, store some food and water and appreciate living in a 1st world country.

Please don’t take life too seriously okay? It is not like we are all transgender okay? LOL

7 Ways To Blog Like A Pro In 2019

Here we are near the end of 2018 and I simply cannot believe how fast this year went. Over the past few days I have been in dialogue and open discussions with my team about 2019. As I always say, “A Dream Is A Goal With A Deadline.”

This morning I saw this post from one my favorite bloggers. What was the topic? How to make your blog the best it can be in 2019.

May 2019, be your best year yet!

Renard's World

If you are concerned about the affairs of blogging in 2019, you are not alone.

Yes, believe it or not, a lot of bloggers are concerned about the same thing too.

In reality, blogging is always evolving and it is quite normal for bloggers to be deeply concerned about the affairs of their blog.

Bloggers are usually concerned about the following things:

  • SEO changes.
  • Gaining new readers.
  • Keeping their existing readers.
  • Losing readers.
  • Coming up with new blogging strategies.
  • Coming up with new methods of improving their blog.

Hey, bloggers are always brainstorming (And, that is a good thing because it keeps them on their toes).

Now, while brainstorming is a good thing, excessive worrying is counterproductive.

Dear friend, I want you to know that it is possible for you to continue your successful blogging journey in 2019 and I am going to spill the proverbial beans (I am going…

2018 New Year’s Gov. Shut Down

Just in case you were wondering by Mitch Santell

Gov shut down 2018 December
Do you even care that the Regan and Bush Museums Remain Open?

In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military- industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.

American makers of plowshares could, with time and as required, make swords as well. But now we can no longer risk emergency improvisation of national defense; we have been compelled to create a permanent armaments industry of vast proportions.

We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together.

The U.S. Government Has Shut Down 18 Times Since 1976.

NPR points out:

Since a new process was put into place in 1976, the U.S. government has shut down 17 times [Update: Make that 18]. Presidents Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan each dealt with six shutdowns during their terms in office, lasting anywhere from one day to 2 1/2 weeks.

Obama, Deep State Plan To Take Out Trump Before The Election ~ Part 1

Commentary That You Can’t Make Up by Mitch Santell

bs-md-sixth-district-primary-20131129-001
Dan Bongino

This introduction by author Dan Bogino will blow your mind and it will openly disclose how Obama and his entire administration used the Deep State to take out President Donald J. Trump, but failed miserably.

Hey, for you filmmakers out there, you can’t make this stuff up. Why? Answer: Life imitates art. This was plan A, the main plan but it failed. The audio is below.

This audio is 8 Minutes and 28 Seconds and worth your time to listen too!

DAN BONGINO: Some of you may have seen me on Fox this morning, and in fact one of the ladies I was just talking to said well, where did you do that from? I said, I just live about 20 miles north, I have a studio in my house. It’s just a TV in the background. It’s a TV, it’s actually a video of what we took down in Palm Beach, we’re just watching a movie in the background. It’s in my office. If you listen real close on Fox sometimes for hits you’ll hear some like gargling in the background, that’s usually my 6 year old running around outside. No, I’m serious. Yeah, that’s my office and it’s a really small office. I don’t live like liberals in a 5,000 square foot mansion. So once in a blue moon you can hear my kids running around. So that happened. I made it down here. Sorry I didn’t tell everybody I was here. When we went to the front desk I got caught up in a conversation with Sebastian Gorka and Louie Gohmert and we’re all Chatty Cathies so that just went on forever, I forgot to tell everyone that I actually showed up. So I am here, we made it, it’s great. Thanks to everyone who’ve already bought the book in advance, I really appreciate it.

That’s what I want to talk about today, folks, because it’s been about a year and a half now of my life. I’ve written four books but this one by far was the most tedious to put together. They had two co-authors actually help me out. And the reason I wrote the book, this whole spine scandal, this debacle, this atrocious disgrace of a scandal that happened to our president. You know how many, are there a lot of cops, federal agents in the room? Anyone have experience in law enforcement? Yeah, a couple raised their hand. If I’m wrong, call me out on this, but when I was a cop and then a Secret Service agent if you have even an ounce of empathy for human beings, which most of you in this room have more than an ounce, you have a whole lot, you’ll arrest a lot of bad people for a lot of really bad things.

But one of the things that impacted me so deeply in my life, I’m not going to say the guy’s name for obvious reasons, let’s call him john Doe. We hit a door at about 6:00 on the morning to arrest this guy on a credit card fraud scheme, and it was ugly. I mean it had been hundreds of thousands of dollars. When you’re a federal agent you don’t get to arrest people for like $5.00 petty crimes or anything like that, they’ll throw you right out of there. It was a serious crime. We arrested the guy and I remember after working on this case for 6 months it was a sense of accomplishment, tempered immediately by this awful feeling in my gut. It’s 7:00 in the morning, you arrest him and you don’t anticipate the human side of it. But what happened, the guy’s young kids ran out. That’s their dad. He actually wasn’t the worst guy in the world, he was actually a good father to his kids. And they’re watching their father in handcuffs, and the wife is crying. Their life is over.

House of Cards Review, Season 6

A simple review and commentary by Mitch Santell

house-of-cards-kevin-spacey-image (2)
Kevin Spacey was the foundation of House of Cards.

First the commentary…

On March of 2013 I returned to America after living for over 5+ years in New Zealand. One of the things that I had not experienced upon returning to the mainland was Netflix.

When Netflix was started it was not a streaming service, it provided movies by mail. Where could you find Netflix at? Answer: Blockbuster video stores.

FrankClaire2 (1)
Sorry Folks, the show sucks without Mr. Kevin Spacey.

Now for the review…

There was something that was very different about House of Cards and the drivers of the show were Frank Underwood, Claire Underwood and Doug Stamper.

Each season was better than the previous one.
Each episode felt like the finale.
Each character reminded you of someone you met in politics.
Kevin Spacey played an “Alpha Male” just like President Trump.

Claire Underwood on House of Cards is a brilliant character. It is simply that Claire Understood is way too much like Hillary Clinton for my taste.

SPOILERALERT
The final episode of season 6 is like watching any episode from Season 1-5.

This Is What I Learned From Blogging Weekly

This is something I battle with daily in regards to how often I should post. This is the best blog posting I’ve read on blog postings!

Renard's World

cool-looking-abstract

On the 31st of August, 2018, I published, I Am Thinking About Posting Weekly(The experience was certainly an interesting one).

A lot of professional bloggers believe in updating their blogs on a weekly basis (And, there are a lot of hobbyist bloggers who believe in publishing content on their blogs on a weekly basis too).

Publishing an article on one’s blog once a week is feasible (A blogger with a busy lifestyle can still find the time to update their blog).

And, this is what I have learned:
